East Bay Food Not Bombs (EBFNB) was formed in February of 1991 with our group continuously active for over 34 years !
We are primarily focused in Berkeley & Oakland as our main sites of sharing food & other mutual aid resources. We previously shared food & other resources in People’s Park since the beginning, and have a long connection to that land, which is occupied Ohlone land.
Since January 2024, we often share vegetarian & vegan meals around 3 pm most days of the week near occupied People’s Park at Telegraph & Haste in Berkeley.
Food Not Bombs (FNB) is a loosely linked network of autonomous collectives across the country and the world, all focused on providing nutritious, free vegetarian & vegan food to anyone who wants it with the first FNB being formed in 1980.
We are horizontally organized and committed to mutual aid, food justice, and food waste reduction as well as other related houseless resource needs.
In addition to sharing meals near occupied People’s Park, we do mobile outreach at houseless encampments around Oakland & Berkeley 3-4 days a week.
We get our produce from grocery stores and farmer’s markets that donate resources to us, and the staples from the food bank.
We strive to cook with healthy organic & sustainable produce to the best of our ability (farmers markets as a huge source of our produce), but we receive a wide variety of donations that may not always match those goals.
We are based out of the CALLI Omni building (formerly known as “Omni Commons”) at 4799 Shattuck Ave, which is maintained by the Collective Action for Land Liberation Institute (CALLI)/East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative (EBPREC)…along with cookhouses scattered across Berkeley & Oakland.

- EACH CHAPTER IS INDEPENDENT AND AUTONOMOUS AND MAKES DECISIONS USING THE CONSENSUS PROCESS
- FOOD NOT BOMBS IS NOT A CHARITY AND IS DEDICATED TO NONVIOLENT SOCIAL CHANGE
